Micro LED
A display technology using microscopic self-lit LEDs, bright and efficient enough for a small see-through display in a glasses frame.
Micro LED is a display technology built from microscopic light-emitting diodes, each of which produces its own light. Because there is no backlight and no separate shutter layer, the resulting panel can be very small, very bright and comparatively efficient with power.
Why glasses use it
Those three properties are what a wearable display needs. The panel has to fit inside an arm or hinge, it has to stay legible against daylight when the image is projected onto a transparent lens, and it has to do both without a battery the frame has no room for. Many wearable Micro LED displays are monochrome, usually green, because a single-colour panel is smaller, brighter and cheaper than a full-colour one, and text is what a heads-up display in glasses mostly shows.
