Real-time translation
Translating speech as it is spoken and delivering the result within a few seconds, as audio or on-screen text.
Real-time translation converts speech into another language while a conversation is happening, rather than after a recording is finished. On glasses the result is delivered either as audio through the speakers or, where there is a display, as text on the lens.
What to check
Three things vary a great deal between products. Which languages are supported, and how many of those work offline: offline support is a much shorter list, and it is the one that matters when roaming. How the result is delivered, since hearing a translation over your own conversation is a different experience from reading it. And the delay, which is rarely instantaneous and shapes how usable it is in a real exchange.
