Voice assistant
A built-in assistant you reach by speaking, used to capture photos, control playback and ask questions.
A voice assistant is the software you talk to. On glasses with no screen and almost no buttons it is the main way to use the product: a wake phrase or a press on the frame starts it listening, and it takes photos, starts recordings, controls music and calls, and answers questions.
What to look at
Which assistant a pair of glasses uses is not a detail. It determines what the glasses can actually do, which languages work, whether the camera can be used to answer questions, and what happens to what the microphones and camera capture. Most requests are sent away to be processed rather than handled on the frame, so the assistant also decides where your recordings and questions go. Replies come back through the same open-ear speakers the glasses use for everything else, so the answer is audible to the wearer without earbuds and, at volume, to people nearby.
